In the winter of 2017 my wife and I spend three weeks traveling through Japan. We arrived at January 25th in Tokyo where we stayed for five days. After exploring Tokyo we continued started our tour that took us to Matsumoto, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Fukuoka, Osaka, Kyoto and Nara.
This trip was one of the most pleasant holidays ever! We never have visited a country that is so densely populated and yet so well organized. The people were very friendly and on several occasions we were helped in a way we were not used to anymore. I’ll give one example: at a certain evening in Nagasaki we wanted to visit a restaurant we found on the internet. When we arrived there it seemed so different from what we expected. After a while (and thanks to Google Translate) we discovered there were two restaurants in that same neighbourhood with the same name. As soon as we found out, the waiter took us there himself a few streets further and even opened the door for us in the other restaurant.
What also contributed to a great trip was the beautiful weather. Most of the time it was fresh and sunny, ideal circumstances to travel. And last but not least the food! Eating Japanese every day was a real treat! We did not miss our western food for one second.
Well, since this is a photo blog here are some pictures. For all other pictures you can visit the Japan page on this website.
